Scheduled for release on December 28, the Xiaomi Mi 11 will be the next cell phone model to hit the market without a charger in the box. The confirmation came from the company’s CEO, Lei Jun.
Through a post on the Chinese social network Weibo, the executive justifies why the new flagship box is so thin – and similar to the iPhone 12. Jun explains that, like Apple’s latest cell phone, the Chinese model will come without the accessory to help preserve the environment.
“The Xiaomi Mi 11 will be officially unveiled with a brand new packaging, very light and thin.Behind the ‘thinness’, we made an important decision: in response to the call for technology and environmental protection, the Mi 11 will not have the charger included.Today, everyone has many idle chargers”, says part of the publication.
Xiaomi’s CEO keeps saying that the company isbe aware that the decision may not be understood by users and that it should generate complaints.“Is there a better solution between industry practice and environmental protection?Next Monday, we will speak at the press conference”, concluded Jun.
Looks like the game has turned, doesn’t it?
Although the environmental appeal is exactly the same as used by Apple – first company to take the charger out of the box –, Xiaomi was one of the competitors that made fun of the Apple.
Right after the launch of the iPhone 12, Xiaomi’s main Twitter profile pointed out that its devices will still have the charger in the package. The company took the opportunity to promote the Mi 10T Pro.
Samsung was another company that also needed to step back from the hype: just before the launch of the Galaxy S21, which should take place on January 14, the company took down a post in which it poked Apple for the lack of charger in the iPhone case . That’s because the South Korean should adopt the same strategy in its next flagships.
